Morrice Transportation was founded in 1991 by Richard Morrice who had been in the transportation industry for over thirty years. This was accomplished with the total support of his family.
The early 1990’s was a time of deregulation in the trucking industry in the United States. Larger Canadian companies suffered in their attempts to retain their current business as well as their ability to take on additional freight.
It was at that time that the Morrice’s started their company building on a foundation of serving customers in a customized and personalized manner through both competive rates and flawless service.
When Morrice opened in the spring of 1991 we shared a faculty with a larger carrier in the Windsor area. While limited in size we were able to operate efficiently from this location. In 1992 we moved to our current location which began as a lease arrangement. In 1997 we purchased the facility which includes a 24 door warehouse and a full service maintained faculty.
Morrice has grown from a small operation of 2 company trucks, eight owner operators and sixteen trailers in 1991 to 63 owner operators, 67 company driver’s and 17 company bunk trucks for a total of 147 driver’s in 2004. We also have 470 trailers which includes 95% 53′ dry vans. The balance of the equipment are flats and curtain sides.
This growth has been the result of hard work and our ability to attract professionals in both our driver force and operation personel. Our most important product at Morrice is safety. We have a well staffed department whose only concern is the safety of not only our people but also those we come in contact with on a day to day basis.
Our future is secure in the knowledge that Morrice Transportation will remain of family run operation. While some family members have been here from the start others have joined the firm and all are committed to the future well being of our company.
